Sectionals Schedule

We've banded together with some of the other regional affiliates to create an exciting take on this year's CF Games Sectional process! Instead of running the event each weekend, we've decided to rotate the event to increase the amount of competition and create the exciting environment that we all enjoyed from year's past.

Here is the tentative schedule for the rotation (subject to change):

March 19th - CrossFit Delaware Valley, Broomall, PA
March 26th - CrossFit King of Prussia, Bridgeport, PA
April 2nd - Crossfit Generation, Hatboro-Horsham, PA
April 9th - CrossFit Inspire - Malvern, PA
April 16th - CrossFit Explode, West Chester, PA
April 23rd - CrossFit Apex, Harleysville, PA

Each event will start registration at 9AM with first heats starting by 10AM. The cost to attend the event at any of the listed boxes will be $20 per event, which covers the entry fee and helps the host box with incidentals, food, etc. Registration will be in two parts:

1 - Athletes will need to register as a competitor on the CF Games site, which is due to be released next week. This process is owned by HQ.
2 - If an athlete wishes to perform the workout at the weekly designated box, he/she will need to visit that gym's website and follow the registration process listed there. Some of the gyms will be handling this electronically, while others will use email to sign folks up. In any case, signup processes will go live on these gym websites within the next few weeks.

We will need volunteers to run registration, handle spectators and facilitate parking. If you would like to help out, please contact the host box.

There will be a limited number of slots available at each gym so please sign up as soon as possible!

  3. I love the idea of making this a community, social, competitive arena! This is the reason we love sectionals!!

However, I do have a concern about the cost...Are you saying that even though it only costs $10 to register for the Games, it will cost me a total of $120 ($20/week) to try out at these affiliate sites?

  5. i am very excited about the opportunity to compete, and the simplicity. I enjoy the explosive atmosphere of the sectionals and I thought I would be disappointed with the format. I like the format but I thought it was only $10 to register and compete. Please verify or correct me if I'm wrong but does it cost us $20 per event ($120 total)? Is registration included in that? If so, we are paying about $1.50 for crossfit sectionals and about $18.50 to the host box - per event! For 1 WOD, 30 or so minutes? I agree that a little piece should go to the host box, how about $5 and we pay for registration? I will pay whatever it takes for me to compete, as will most people, but I believe it is taking advantage of a very passionate group.

  6. Susan,

That's correct. We are asking athletes to kick in $20 at each affiliate location to pay for the cost of the sectional. I can only speak for our gym but we're shutting down for the day and not running any of our regularly scheduled classes or new client intros. We will need to rent a port-a-potty (maybe two) and have other incidental costs for the event. Our normal drop in rate (which is very common in CF and even amongst the gyms that we're working with here) is $20 anyway so we don't at all feel like we're pushing the limits here.

Hope that helps, and I hope to see you on the 19th!

    Thanks,
    Rob

  7. I will add to what Rob is saying. Last year, the cost for Sectionals for individual athletes was $100.00 for 3 workouts. This year, the cost is $100.00 for 6 workouts (assuming your home box does not charge you). The owners of all of the boxes that are represented agreed on this matter during one of the conference calls to discuss what should be done.
